"I Strongly Support The Second Amendment!"
My opponent has tried to call attention to a mistake my office made 8 years ago in the case of Parker v. District of Columbia. Staff in my office mistakenly joined the wrong brief. As soon as that mistake was called to my attention, I immediately directed my staff to remove Idaho from that brief.
My staff accomplished that removal within 48 hours as reflected by the Notice of Withdrawal of Amici Curiae filed on August 9, 2006. You can read the content of that notice below. My office further followed up with the Court upon issuance of its draft opinion in a letter dated March 15, 2007 to insure that Idaho and the Attorney General were removed as Amici Curiae. You can view this letter below as well. Finally, within the final draft of the opinion, which can be viewed online through this link: http://www.cadc.uscourts.gov/internet/opinions.nsf/E23F1D1340E39A99852574400045380B/$file/04-7041a.pdf
You can see that Idaho is not listed within that opinion.
Recognizing my consistent strong support of the 2nd, I signed on to the brief supporting the 2nd Amendment of Columbia v. Heller, which you can view through this link: http://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/aba/publishing/preview/publiced_preview_briefs_pdfs_07_08_07_290_RespondentAmCu31States.authcheckdam.pdf
I reaffirmed my support of the 2nd Amendment in 2009 when In signed on to a brief supporting the 2nd Amendment in McDonald v. City of Chicago, which can be viewed through this link: http://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/aba/publishing/preview/publiced_preview_briefs_pdfs_09_10_08_1521_PetitionerAmCuStateofTexas.authcheckdam.pdf
More recently in August 2013, I signed on to a brief in support of the NRA and the 2nd Amendment in NRA v. Bureau of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement. That brief can be viewed through this link: http://sblog.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/NRA-FINAL-8-30-13.pdf
As you can see through the above briefs, I aggressively supported the 2nd Amendment and will continue to do so as Idaho’s Attorney General.
Thank you for your support and God Bless America.
